Very different compared to our usual early spring field trips here. A VERY HOT day! In addition, it’s been very dry recently, so many of the plants we usually see were were shriveled up or missing.  In addition, the power company had sprayed and driven over the area where the best patch of Blue Curls was located last year. However, we saw several new plants for the second year in a row.

Botanical plant names seem to change almost every day, but for now we use those approved by ITIS, the Integrated Taxonomic Information System. Plants that are non-native to North America are indicated by an asterisk (*) placed after the species name.
