Our timing was perfect. It started pouring with rain as we were making our way back to the cars after lunch up by the train tracks! If you missed it last year, here is the video about the Class J steam locomotive Norfolk and Western 611 on its last run up the Saluda grade which starts at around 1:00 into the movie. It starts to stall at 3:00 and restarts around 6:30. That is some dirty smoke! Pictures are below.

Are you ready for our field trips? After all this time, do you remember the difference between Rue Anemone (Thalictrum thalictroides) and Wood Anemone (Anemone quinquifolia)? We can help! This presentation will give a quick review of how our field trips work for new members and prepare you for some of the plants you might encounter during the next few months. If you find any mistakes, send us an email at wcbotanicalclub@gmail.com!
