Jones Farm Scout – April 2020

“Wish you were here to enjoy walking the trails with me. These are pictures of plants that I would be showing you if we were physically together. Most of the plants I included are currently in bloom, but I also added a few that are in leaf or bud. And I included a shot of Shortia – though it is no longer blooming – just because I like the picture. I took many of these pictures years ago, but each year it’s like seeing the plant for the first time, and I take another picture. I hope that our next walk together is a physical one.” Betty

Glassy Mountain Scouts – April 6 & 7, 2020

Glassy Mountain is a monadnock that is the remnant of a pluton. For information on its origins check last year’s post here.  Our field trip was scheduled a little earlier this year than when we usually visit. However, most of our old favorites were up and out.  Compared to last year the rock surfaces were almost bone dry, and the numbers of plants seemed to be fewer and more spread out.
