Flowers of Plants with Botanical Names Beginning with “C”

Most of us need reminders so we don’t forget all we learned on our field trips each year. In the 3 years since we first posted “Botanical Names” we’ve accumulated over 5,000 new photographs and identified a bunch of new species. This week we have pictures of the flowers of plants with botanical names beginning with “C”. Enjoy the pictures & see how many of these you remember seeing.

Botanical plant names seem to change almost every day, but for now we use those approved by ITIS, the Integrated Taxonomic Information System. Plants that are non-native to North America are indicated by an asterisk (*) placed after the species name.

Photography by Ken Borgfeldt, Jennie Burke, Cindy Carpenter, Daudie & John Colson, David Heavner, Richard Holzman, Janice Irwin, Eric King, Mary Knierim, Penny Longhurst, Jim Poling, Lucy Prim, & Joe Standaert. Click on any picture to zoom & enter the slide show.
