Ashmore Heritage Preserve – October 20, 2023

We wanted to check out whether anything was growing on the dam after it was bush-hogged in the late spring. Still loads of wildflowers, but the Virginia Willow (Itea virginica), Sparkleberry (Vaccinium arboreum), & Maleberry (Lyonia ligustrina) that we saw blooming in May are long gone. We also saw a huge, creepy, invasive Joro spider! Photography by Penny Longhurst & Joe Standaert (Click on any picture to zoom).
